After getting married in 2005, they relocated to St. Louis to attend Covenant Seminary. Brandon is ordained in the Presbyterian Church in American (PCA) and has been serving in full-time ministry in southern Connecticut since 2011, both within the local church and with FOCUS (a parachurch organization with the mission of student outreach and discipleship) where Rebecca also works as the Director of Human Resources and Corporate Insurance. We have enjoyed the challenge and opportunity of “building from scratch” as God opens up doors for honest and open conversations about the Christian faith. Several years ago, through the encouragement of our local church, Grace Church Stamford, we began to prayerfully consider a call to church planting. As a church plant itself, Grace Church has a heart to see new gospel-preaching churches started in our neighboring cities and towns. In 2020, Brandon and Rebecca attended the PCA’s Church Planting Assessment through Mission to North America (MNA) and were provisionally recommended for church planting with recommendations for continued training and growth. In 2022, Brandon accepted a call as a Church Planting Apprentice with the church planting network, Mission Anabaino, based out of Christ Presbyterian Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Mission Anabaino has helped plant 25 churches, including 6 in southern CT. In 2019 Barna research showed that 8 of the top 10 most “post-Christian” communities in America were in New England and neighboring New York State. In Connecticut, it is estimated that less than 5% of the population are connected to a gospel-preaching church. Norwalk in particular is a city of around 90,000 people, including around 33,000 who have no religious affiliation and have never attended a religious service. Yet, in Norwalk, there is not a single PCA church and there are only a few evangelical or reformed churches. It is estimated that in CT there is one gospel-preaching church for every 8,000 people. There is a great need for the gospel of God’s grace in New England!
